Fireworks on New Years Eve - Legal at last!

For the first time ever, fireworks are legal in Anchorage Alaska this New Year's Eve! For the next two years on a provisional basis, fireworks are legal from 9:30 p.m. New Year's Eve til 1:00 a.m. New Year's Day. Hopefully nobody ruins it by setting the city on fire or by blowing their hand up.

As we exited the hockey game (Alaska Aces 4, Ontario 3), we could see little displays going off all over Anchorage, making for a memorable drive home. Once home, we started our own little celebration, as witnessed in the video above. While it only 11:00 p.m. now, we have had the most memorable family New Year's Eve ever. Our children never have gotten to set off fireworks before, and we all have had a fabulous time. We're heading out to set off the remainder of our small supply of fun, and toast the new year in with some sparkling cider. After that, it's into the new year, paying for the dietary sins of the last few weeks.
