Mushroom Mattar
I just came home from visiting my mom, and we had the pleasure of dining for lunch at India Fusion, a small Indian food spot in Utah. I had the lunch buffet, which allowed me to sample a variety of Indian dishes I had heard of but had never tasted. One of them was mushroom mattar, a pleasantly spicy dish consisting mainly of mushrooms and peas.
So, being back at home, and with an interest in eating in a more-or-less, or perhaps less-or-less meat fashion, I decided to give mushroom mattar a whack. I visited www.food.com and found a great recipe, http://www.food.com/recipe/mushroom-mattar-422661.
It took a while to make, what with it being my first whack at it and all. If you check that recipe out, which I suggest you do, I did alter it a tad. I used plain yogurt instead of cream, and three green Thai chilies instead of Kashmir chili powder. Those Thai chilies are pretty potent, and deliver the right amount of kick. I diced them up fine and tossed them in with the onions. Next time, I might toss in a fourth chili for some Kung Fu "kick". But yeah, this dish came out great, and I'll be making it more often.
